It was the very active Keeper of the Records f. A. van der Chijs who in 1887 was able to persuade the Batavia Society of Arts and Sciences to publish the Dagh-Registers. Several historians, f. A. van der Chijs, H. T. Colen brander, f. de Hullu, F. de Haan, Mrs. W. FruinM ees, were engaged on this task; 31 volumes were published, arriving 29 at the year 1682. These records gradually increase in size, those for the year 1682 (published in 2 vols. in 1928 and 1931, approx. ) being the largest.
